It has been over one week since when I watched Marathi movie Sairat but I still can’t get over it. I am being haunted by the movie all the time. Make no mistake the movie is not a horror or ghost related movie but an intense love story, which can impact the psychology and physiology of viewers over a prolonged period of time. Even a horror movie won’t impact you that way. [Read more…]

September 21, 2018 by Wandering Babu 3 Comments

The Girl in Room 105 Book Cover The Girl in Room 105
Chetan Bhagat
Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Rupa

The book narrates the story of a girl and a boy from two different religious backgrounds. The barrier between the two is too steep to climb. There is opposition from the boy's family but the boy wanted was not ready to let the girl go. The girl then dumps the boy. The book has a tragic ending and has also a powerful social message in addition to usual Chetan Bhagat Stuff.

The much-awaited Chetan Bhagat’s novel The girl in Room 105 has finally arrived. The book is Bhagat’s eighth fiction. Like his other books, it is also a romance thriller but with a twist.  It is about unloving, not loving. While the other books of Bhagat deal with the romance of couples hailing from different culture, class, and caste backgrounds; this one span across the religious divide.

Movie Review: Sairat

Sairat Book Cover Sairat
Teenage Romance
2016

I have never seen a love story, especially in Indian cinemas, that delivers content with such a rawness, sensitivity and flawless way. The songs are melodious and very relevant to the situations. Credit must go to the director Nagraj Manjule.

I had heard a great deal about this 2016 mega-hit Marathi classic Sairat. My non-Marathi background coupled with lack of time had held me back. The movie is finally added to Netflix and I got to watch the movie recently with English subtitle.

More than often Sashi Tharoor leaves his opponents and detractors dumbstruck and gaping with his brilliant use of English language. His classic twitter insult hurled at Arnab Goswami has become a legend of sort has a cult-like following among his fans.

I admire Sashi Tharoor’s knowledge of English. I, myself, am an advance learner of English, but still far away from reaching Tharoor’s level. Such mastery comes from continuous learning and experience.
